He was the son of an auto mechanic She was a child of the farm They fell in love in high school so romantic She fell for his good looks and charm She wore his class ring every day of the year Inseparable, they were never apart But she began to have strong feelings of fear That one day he would just break her heart She wondered if love really does last forever If he would always be there She hoped and she prayed they would always be together But she knew that life isn’t fair Graduation came and she went off to College He went to work for his dad He became schooled in automobile knowledge And she was a top college grad He married a girl but soon began to ponder if he had seen the best of his days She married a man whose eyes tended to wander And who left her with 2 girls to raise Now she knew that love doesn’t always last forever Her husband was no longer there She and her girls would move forward together Even though her life wasn’t fair After 25 years she came back to their town A reunion was what brought her there When he walked in he nearly fell to the ground To see her alone in a chair He ran to her and his heart began racing Her eyes welled up with her tears They each began to think that they both must be crazy To think of love after all of these years But they both knew their love had not lasted forever While they danced they knew in their heart It was a gift to have this last time together But now it was time that they part He was the town’s best auto mechanic She was a bank president They cherished their memories of school so romantic But back to their lives each one went

Makes his living doing odd jobs around town Rake your leaves, cut a tree, he’ll never let you down The one thing about him he’ll never tell a lie He’s as harmless as a dove He always seems to just get by He’s never met a stranger he’s as friendly as can be Innocent as a child and busy as a bee He seems a little odd just a little offbeat But just like a cat He always seems to land on his feet We love him to death you know but he’s, he’s such a wreck He’s just a few little cards short of a deck He has good intentions now but he’s, he’s not too smart And we all say well bless his heart A young lady came into his life They courted a while and she became his wife To him she seemed like an angel from above She did her best Cause all he needed was a little bit of love She got him a job to give him self respect But he ended up quittin' when you'd least expect She did her best to live the American dream But wouldn’t you know it He found another crazy get rich quick scheme She loves him to death you know but he’s, he’s such a wreck He’s just a few little cards short of a deck She knew he’d trouble now, right from the start And we all say well bless her heart We love him to death you know but he’s still such a wreck He’s still just a few little cards short of a deck He has good intentions now but he’s, he’s not too smart And we still say well bless his heart

Growin up in the country All of 12 years old Let me fish at the city dam I’ll be good as gold The people asked what i’m catchin’ They just ain’t bitin’ today I’ll give it one more hour Then I’ll be on my way City folks they don’t get it Say it ain’t the way it should be Growin up in the country Was alright by me Ridin my bike going downtown To Mr Cooksey’s drug store Soda fountain and comic books Who could ask for much more I look for old empty houses So much fun to explore It’s so safe in the country We don’t lock our front door City folks they don’t get it Say it aint the way it should be Growin up in the country Was alright by me Why do you still live here you’re sharp as a tack But I like this place This little hick town is holding you back I feel the sun on my face Look around you progress is rare But the people are nice If you stay here your life goes nowhere No thank you for your advice Now I live in the city The people don’t seem to care Keep my car and my doors locked now They leave their trash everywhere Do my best to get along Go to work every day Takes me over an hour Fightin’ traffic all the way City folks they don’t get Say this is how it should be Growin up in the country was alright by me

Missing 06:13
He asked you to very first dance You weren’t too sure but you took a chance And you fell in love, yes it was love Together you built a home, a family, a life For over a four decades you were his wife You were in love, yes it was love Until death came knocking upon your door Left a trail of tears and so much more He was your love, and he was gone. And all those little traits that seemed so annoying You’d pay a million dollars just to enjoy them Once again Because you’re missing him. You’re missing him Yes you’re missing him It’s a pain that can never goes away And you learn to live with it everyday Then you know that it’s okay To keep missing him Back in high school she caught your attention She became the focus of your affection And you were in love, yes it was love Together you built a home, a family, a life For over four decades she was your wife You did it for love, yes love Then death came to your home and decided to stay For eight long months until she finally had to say Goodbye and she was gone They all say she’s in a better place But you’d give all you have just to see her face That’s for sure Because you’re missing her You’re missing her You’re still missing her It’s a pain that can never go away And you learn to live with it everyday and then you know that it’s okay To keep missing her We’ve all lost people we know And saying we’re over it doesn’t make it so Still an ache in our heart I know that God does his part A brother, a sister, parent, child or friend We’re never really ready for their time to end We know once again, that we’re still missing them. We’re missing them Oh yes we’re missing them It’s a pain that can never go away But we can learn to live with it every day I hope you know that it’s ok To still be missing them

I was raised to think for myself Stand up for what I believe I won’t keep my opinion on a shelf If you don’t like it you can just leave I’m an independent thinkin man And I don’t have listen to you But two little people, they can Tell me what I need to do They’re not too big, bout 4 feet tall But they know how to motivate me They just look in my eyes and say please grandpa And I can’t even disagree Listen buddy I’m here to tell you on this fact I have reconciled You can’t tell me what I have to do Cuz you’re just not my grandchild Your name’s not Eli You’re not my grandson Your name’s not Elly You’re not the special one You can’t tell me what I have to do Cuz you’re just not my grandchild Play Old Maid, Go Fish, and Uno And maybe a trip to the park Hide and go seek and next comes you know Playin with flashlights in the dark Mario Kart is the game they play Play Doh and Legos are a delight Knock knock jokes they can tell all day And stories we can read at night We’re eating pizza, pasta, and ice cream too Maybe a McDonald’s happy meal Give em what they want, it’s what I’ll do It’s all just part of the deal Listen buddy I’m here to tell you on this fact I have reconciled You can’t tell me what I have to do Cuz you’re just not my grandchild Your name’s not Eli You’re not my grandson Your name’s not Elly You’re not the special one You can’t tell me what I have to do Cuz you’re just not my grandchild You can’t tell me what I have to do Cuz you’re just not my grandchild

In the midwest there blows a warm southern wind From the Gulf Coast up north through the plains It’s not known for bringing summer heat to an end But once in a while it will bring the rains Long time ago some native tribes settled in this land A place where the buffalo could always roam It’s also the place where I grew up to be a man And there’s place in my heart for my old Kansas home And it’s a southern wind That warm southern wind It’s a southern wind Reminds me of home The people of this land don’t hope to have a lot of fame To God and country they will always be true It’s a place where everybody stills honors their family name If they know you they’ll honor your name too Well I moved on to another place trying to follow God’s plan Now I live in old San Antone But the memories I have of living there when I was a younger man Still warm my heart and thrill me to the bone And it’s a southern wind That warm southern wind It’s a southern wind Reminds me of home And it’s a southern wind That warm southern wind And it’s a southern wind That warm southern wind It’s a southern wind Reminds me of home

Look at church look at the steeple Open the door and see all the people Gathered today on a bright Sunday morn From what they do inside, many blessings are born A little country church in a little country town They’re helping the folks and each earning a crown They give hope to the hopeless And food to the poor Minister to the sick and by fatih so much more Another lost soul gets new life Another broken heart is healed Another couple becomes man and wife And the heart of Christ is revealed None of them do this for fortune or fame They share God’s love and do it in Jesus’ sweet name They just love the Lord and are true to His call That’s why they share and show love to all Another lost soul gets new life Another broken heart is healed Another couple becomes man and wife And the heart of Christ is revealed Another lost soul gets new life Another broken heart is healed Another couple becomes man and wife And the heart of Christ is revealed Look at the church Look at the steeple Open the door The church is the people

Let’s go cruisin’ again Like we did way back then Back in 75 And we felt so alive It was fun don’t you think We’d stop at Sonic for a drink Cruisin again cruisin again We were cruisin’ back then Everybody piled in I’d fill my tank with a five Cause it was my turn to drive The music’s up loud We’re with same old crowd Cruisin again come with my friend We could drive from north to the south end of town It’s so much fun to just drive around Now let’s take a lap round the lake For old times sake Let’s go cruisin again Like we did way back then On highway 75 But now it’s your turn to drive Out east we can go Two guys are racing you know Cruisin again cruisin again And we’re cruisin again Just like we did way back when Gas tank’s gettin’ low Pull in to the old Texaco We were feeling the breeze Then take a break at the Tastee Freeze Cruisin again come with me my friend We could drive from north to the south end of town It’s so much fun to just drive around Now let’s take a lap round the lake For old times sake

Like Gage and DeSoto from that old TV show EMT partners always on the go You taught me every thing that you could To be honest we were pretty darn good Some thought us heroes it didn’t go to our head We worked to do it better and better instead You carried on and continue to grow But I had to go Sometimes Like Frank and Jesse James All the townspeople they knew our names We cruised the streets a lot of those nights Crashed some parties got into some fights We never meant to hurt anyone Just two guys out looking for fun Sometimes we played those outlaw games Time to stop fanning the flames Eddy you left this world way too soon that’s for sure But through the love of your family Your spirit will always endure Then there’s the legacy of service you gave us In all those people you trained Through all of that your memory will always remain Like Martin and Lewis we made people laugh But all those foks just didn’t know the half Of all of the pain we were trying to hide We were so good at holding it inside In some crazy way we understood each other And held each other up brother to brother Love found us both, and would brighten our days We had to go our different ways Eddy you left this world way too soon that’s for sure But through the love of your family Your spirit will always endure Then there’s the legacy of service you gave us In all those people you trained Through all of that your memory will always remain
