That Guy
06:00
|
|||
Born and raised in a midwestern town
That’s where he learned just how to get down
Mom and dad both could drink with the best
Momma was worse, she drank to excess
Sam was a smart kid and did well in school
People told him that he was nobody’s fool
Then a high school friend introduced him to beer
But when the friend drank it filled Sammy with fear
That guy drank too much and he lied too much
He stole too much and he cried too much
He tried every way he knew to get high
Sammy made up his mind he wouid never be that guy
No no uh uh not me
No no uh uh not me
Sam went to college to earn a degree
He was on top of the world, and feeling so free
When he got there he tried to drink with the best
But when it came to his classes, he could not pass the test
He came back to town and tried to get himself right
But his drinking increased, all day and all night
Woke up in strange places, so much shame and fear
The only way to cope was to drink another beer
Well he drank too much and he lied too much
He stole too much and he cried too much
He’d come to a place where it’s no fun to get high
One day he realized he had become that guy
No no uh uh not me
No no uh uh can’t be
If you haven’t guessed it yet that guy was me
Sam was who I was before God set me free
I was out of control and I caused a lot of pain
Nothing good comes from an alcohol brain
But God picked me up and put me back on my feet
When I listen to Him then my life is complete
I gave Him my life and He made me brand new
He did it for me and He can do it for you.
I drank too much and I lied too much
I stole too miuch and I cried too much
I can never drink again and I will tell you why
My biggest fear is that I’ll once again be that guy
No no no never again
No no no turning back

Wayfaring Stranger
03:54
|
|||
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world of woe
I know there's is no sickness, no toil, nor danger
In that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my Father
I'm going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home
I know dark clouds will gather 'round me
I know my way is rough and steep
But beauteous fields lie just before me
Where God's redeemed, their vigils keep
Repeat verse 1.

Work This Out

Well there’s some people upset in the USA
The reds and blues they can’t get along
And if I dare to think in a different way
Both sides will tell me I’m wrong
Yes they tell me black lives matter
Don’t ya know I know it’s true
But If I say that all lives matter
It doesn’t mean that I hate you.
Well some people wanna run and hide
And others wanna march and shout
But I can listen to you
won’t you listen to me
I know we can work this out
Yes I know we can work this out
Well we got ourselves a new president
Got people scared out of their wits
Every time he says something they don’t like
Thay all break out in big fits
Well I don’t care what party you’re in
Or how you choose to speak your mind
But at the end of the day we’re all Americans
And this rage only keeps us blind
Well some people wanna run and hide
And others wanna march and shout
But I can listen to you
won’t you listen to me
I know we can work this out
Yes I know we can work this out
Well let me tell you I don’t fear the day
Or the actions of any one man
No one can take my hope away
Because God still has a plan
So if you wanna run and hide
Or if you wanna march and shout
Well I can listen to you
won’t you listen to me
I know we can work this out
Come on let's work this out

A few months ago you came back to your home
But you still have your back to the wall
The battle still rages everywhere that you roam
You can never get away from it all
Gladly you would go back if your country asked you
But this war has taken it’s toll
So you swallow your pride with a Xanax or two
Because you fear that you’ll lose contol
You’re a warrior, we appreciate what you’ve done for us
So many battles you’ve won
Now you’re back home with your memories so real
But your battle has now just begun
You survived your deployments both times before
But this time something went wrong
The explosion horrendous, your buddies were no more
You were laid up for so very long
Now it’s a struggle remembering today
Friends and family they try to reach out
You try whiskey to numb the pain for a day
But it only brings darkness and doubt
You’re a warrior, we appreciate what you’ve done for us
So many battles you’ve won
Now you’re back home with your memories so real
But your battle has now just begun
Instrumental
You graduated the academy with your heart full of fire
Brave souls fought in your command
After 20 long years you decide to retire
And there’s some things you can’t understand
Another text comes over your phone today
It’s from a brave soldier’s young wife
You choke back the tears, can’t think what to say
Another warrior has taken his life.
You’re a warrior, we appreciate what you’ve done for us
So many battles you’ve won
Now you’re back home with your memories so real
But your battle has now just begun
2nd instrumental
You’re a warrior, you’re in the fight of your life
And it’s not in your nature to run
With some faith and some help from others like you
This battle can also be won

King of Glory

Who is the King of Glory
The Lord who is strong and mighty
Who is the King of Glory
The Lord who is strong and mighty
When the enemy comes in
Like a flood the Lord is there
He has overcome
Dark forces everywhere
God Almighty”s on the Throne
He is our Cornerstone
He provides us with all our needs
With powerful and mighty deeds
Loving God who’s always there
Abba Father will always care
He is the one that heals
Our pain is what he feels
He”s the First and HE’s the Last
He rescues us from our past.
He is the Prince of Peace
His love for us will never cease
Forever the Kings of Kings
We testify of amazing things
Lord of Lords we call on you
To do for us what we can’t do.
